The 2018-2019 Levy Proposal has been approved by the Board of Commissioners to publish the proposal in the Northwest Herald.
“Under The Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL), the District can only receive additional taxes from what was levied the previous year in the amount of inflation or 5% whichever is less, PLUS taxes on all new property. The inflation rate allowed for this year’s levy is 1.5%. This is the additional amount asked from existing property owners. The amount of new property in the District is not known until late spring of next year and in order for the district to capture all of the new dollars we can receive from this new property, we need to overestimate the amount. That is the reason we are asking a high amount.”
